North Wales: parking plan protest
Residents of Rhyl in Denbighshire, North Wales, are opposing a council plan to convert seafront green space into overnight motorhome parking. A local said: "We don't want it here. It is public open space, green fields where people play and walk their dogs." The council says the measure will tackle illegal camping and attract tourists. The proposal is part of a network of six motorhome sites across the county, funded by the Welsh and UK governments.
Worthing: caravans on the green
In Worthing, West Sussex, caravans and motorhomes have pitched up on Goring Gap green near the seafront. Two weeks earlier, four caravans formed a camp near Wadurs leisure centre in Shoreham, and West Sussex County Council issued a notice to vacate.
