A coroner has warned about the dangers of portable gas heaters after Christopher Coll, 45, and Kayleigh Coll, 38, died from carbon monoxide poisoning in their camper van at the Craft Cider Festival in Burley, New Forest, on October 12, 2025. An inquest on July 22, 2026, recorded a verdict of misadventure. A £30 parabolic gas heater, designed for outdoor use only, was found to be poorly attached to the gas cylinder, causing a leak. The coroner plans to contact the manufacturer about the heater's safety warnings.
