Motorhome equipment electrifies, but diesel remains king for propulsion

Motorhomes are seeing a rise in electrical appliances, including fridges and stoves, increasing the need for off-grid power. To achieve a week of self-sufficiency without hookups, dealers recommend installing solar panels, two lithium batteries, and a 3 kW inverter, costing around €3,000–€4,000. Propulsion remains diesel due to weight limits (under 3,500 kg) and range constraints, making electric drivetrains unlikely in the near future.

Borgå still without a campsite

For the fourth consecutive summer, the Finnish city of Borgå (Porvoo) lacks a dedicated campsite for motorhomes and caravans. The planned camping area in the Staffas district remains in active planning (category 2), but no construction date has been set. City officials state that other development projects have higher priority, and no private operator has yet shown interest in running the future campsite.
