Since September 4, about 40 caravans have been illegally occupying a field near the Bergerie housing estate in Châtellerault. The landowner filed a complaint with police. Mayor Anne-Florence Bourat denied that any authorization was given and said the prefecture of Vienne has initiated an eviction procedure. The travelers, who came from Chinon and Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, plan to stay until September 20.

In Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray on September 4, 2026, sound engineer Pierre Vittu unveiled 'Michel', a converted 1975 Airstream caravan serving as a mobile concert stage. The rental costs less than 2,000 euros, setup takes 30 minutes, and it runs on a standard power outlet. Planned uses include festivals, beaches, and private events.

In 2017, Dominique Cavanna was hospitalized in Seine-Saint-Denis with a diagnosis of "giving-up syndrome." Doctors gave her only days to live. Her granddaughter Fiona Lauriol took her out of the hospital and embarked on a motorhome journey. From 2019 to 2020, they traveled through Spain, Portugal, and Andorra. Since the start of 2025, the Swiss canton of Geneva has been calculating vehicle tax for camper vans and motorhomes based on weight. Owners of a two-tonne camper van pay about €150 per year, while four-tonne integral motorhomes can incur up to €700. The measure does not apply to vehicles registered in France. A petition proposing a €1,000 annual tax on motorhomes in France has gathered only 25 signatures.

In November 2025, a couple's motorhome was deliberately set on fire outside their home in Saint-Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine. The vehicle was completely destroyed, and the house suffered smoke and heat damage, forcing the couple to live in a neighbor's home, then in a motorhome lent by their son, and later in a replacement motorhome purchased by their insurance. The suspect's trial, scheduled for September 3, 2026, was postponed because his lawyer was hospitalized and the defendant has psychiatric issues. The new hearing is set for May 27, 2027. The couple hopes to return home by Christmas, but electrical and heating repairs are still pending.

The second edition of the 'Sur la Route' festival will take place from September 11 to 13 at the municipal campsite of Rouvran in Le Tour-du-Parc. The event combines concerts and the vanlife scene. The lineup includes Vanupié, The Sunuizors, Radio Byzance, Ben Armessen, Archimède, La Cafetera Roja, Mary May & Balaphonics, La Charcuterie Musicale, Le Mange Bal, and Saïra. The Expo Vanlife village will feature artisans, converters, major van brands, and equipment suppliers. A food area and a bivouac space facing the ocean will be available.
