NPO in Gifu converts camper van into mobile shelter for cats

The owner of a light camper van (軽キャンピングカー) made her first trip to the Fumotoppara campsite in Shizuoka Prefecture, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. She set up the pop-up roof, lit a campfire, visited the on-site café and free bathhouse, and cooked Wagyu beef steak and yakisoba for dinner. Despite cloudy weather that obscured Mount Fuji, clear skies were forecast for the next day.

On May 30, the Mitz Kanazawa complex opened near Kanazawa Station. It features restaurants in caravans, a lawn area, and motorhome rentals. The project uses idle land from urban development.

At the Japan Camping Car Show in Makuhari Messe, the Sunlight Cliff 600 RT Adventure Edition motorhome was presented, built on a Fiat Ducato (L3H2) chassis. The vehicle is 5995 mm long. It features a pop-up roof that creates an additional sleeping area. Standard equipment includes a side awning and 16-inch wheels. The show model, equipped with an optional lithium-ion battery, inverter, and household air conditioner, is priced at 17,567,000 yen.

Suzuki has refreshed its Every camper van, designed for two people. The model features a digital instrument cluster, an optional 9-inch navigation screen, and an expanded ADAS package. The vehicle is 3.4 meters long, powered by a 660 cc engine with 49 or 64 hp, and available with all-wheel drive. The top J Limited trim with turbo engine and 4x4 starts at approximately €11,500 in Japan.

Japanese TV personality Chiharu Niiyama (45) posted a blog and YouTube video about camping in a Chevrolet van. She showed outdoor cooking and the vehicle's interior. The video includes a tour of rare Chevrolet parts.

Nissan introduced the X-Trail Rock Creek Multi-Bed, a factory camper conversion kit for its SUV, featuring a two-person folding mattress (180x115 cm) with a Cordura cover and under-bed storage. The vehicle uses the e-Power hybrid system with e-4orce all-wheel drive. Available only in Japan, starting at ¥5,327,300.
