Traveller receives suspended prison sentence for breaching caravan ban in Stafford Borough

Newcastle City Council will continue 24-hour weekend access at the Dean Street multi-storey car park but end extended hours at Grainger Town. A six-month trial showed an average of 33 vehicles leaving Dean Street between midnight and 6am, compared to 14 at Grainger Town. Dean Street generated a net profit of £7,777, while Grainger Town incurred a loss of £3,532. Grainger Town is expected to revert to its previous hours in September.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of stealing a campervan and crashing it on the A35 in Dorset. The crash occurred at approximately 2:15 am on 12 July 2026 on the A35 near Chilcombe Lane. Police found a black Nissan campervan on its side with severe damage. The driver and some passengers had left the scene, but the driver was later identified and arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and driving without due care. The vehicle had been stolen from the Pitchers, Salway Ash area. Although the campervan was designed for two occupants, five people were inside at the time of the crash, including the driver, and all passengers were under 16. No serious injuries were reported; the driver and one passenger were taken to Dorset County Hospital for assessment and later released to their parents.

Callow Top, a caravan and camping site in the Derbyshire Dales, has been listed in Practical Caravan's Top 100 Sites Guide for 2026. Plans have been submitted to expand Flusco Wood holiday park in Newbiggin with 32 new lodges on nearly two hectares of adjoining farmland. The single-storey timber-clad lodges will include driveways, parking, drainage, and footpaths linking to the existing park. The development will use the existing entrance and connect to a previously approved extension. The applicant says the expansion will support Cumbria's visitor economy, citing proximity to the A66 and M6. Westmorland and Furness Council will decide after a public consultation.

A large fire broke out at Oaks Caravan Park in Fyfield Wick near Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Thames Valley Police is evacuating residents to Kingston Colts Football Club. Road closures are in place on Faringdon Road, A415 Kingston Road, A338 and Digging Lane. Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke.

Stonham Barns Holiday Park in Suffolk, UK, was sold to Cosgrove Leisure Parks UK after entering administration in February 2025 due to financial pressures. Independent business owners at the park, including Luke Hughes of Legends Sports Bar and Glen Wade of Glen's Collectables Shop, said they are confident about the future following meetings with the new owners. Managing director Patrick Cosgrove stated plans to introduce fresh ideas and improvements to the park.
