On the morning of January 15, 2025, Larnaca authorities with police assistance began an operation to remove campers and unauthorized structures from the beach near the Larnaca Yacht Club. By 9 a.m., four campers had been confiscated; they had occupied the area for weeks and, according to complaints, hindered access for other bathers. Boulders were placed at the entrance to prevent large vehicles from re-entering.
The operation followed an ultimatum from the Minister of Interior and notices from the district administration. Similar measures are expected on a neighboring beach, where unauthorized wooden structures have been built on the waves.
