Starting today, parking of cars and caravans on the sand dunes at Krapets-North beach in Bulgaria has been banned. The area, part of the Natura 2000 network, had long suffered from vandalism and pollution.
Local residents report that the area has become calmer and cleaner since the restrictions were introduced. The municipality of Shabla stated that cleanup costs for micro-dumps exceeded 120,000 leva. However, local entrepreneurs fear a drop in tourist numbers.
