Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia) has paused its overnight parking ban on nine of eleven car parks, introduced on 1 April to combat litter and anti-social behaviour. The decision came after complaints from local residents and tourists who feared the restrictions would simply shift the problem to residential streets and verges.
According to a report discussed at the annual meeting on 10 June, further consultations are recommended, with a review expected in late 2026 or early 2027. Park authorities stressed that overnight stays in motorhomes and campers on the car parks remain prohibited, and advised using official campsites. A pilot project is being considered, closing two car parks (Llyn Tegid and Llangywer) from 1:00 to 3:00 am.
