Turkey's ruling party has submitted a bill to parliament tightening regulations on the use of agricultural land. The bill bans non-agricultural cooperatives from buying land and introduces monthly fines of up to 100,000 Turkish lira for using farmland as hobby gardens or tiny houses. An estimated 10,000 such sites exist nationwide, mostly around Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.
