The Seattle City Council voted 6–3 on 20 October 2026 to approve an unfunded RV towing programme that effectively bans parking RVs for more than two hours without a permit issued through a one-time census. The council did not provide cost estimates for towing and storage, and Council Member Rob Saka's office said it did not have immediate access to that information. The package also authorises the finance department to lease outdoor vehicle storage sites without council approval, raising the per-lease limit from 65,000 to 100,000 square feet and replacing a fixed $6 per square foot rate with market rates. The city faces a $175 million budget shortfall and has two scheduled council meetings before the 2 December budget deadline.
