Campervan users urged to stop treating promenade like a campsite

Isle of Man infrastructure department issued notices to motorhomes on Douglas promenade: 16-hour parking limit, no waste dumping. Fines not yet issued.

A Kirk Michael man is appealing for information about a missing caravan. Paul Heavey posted on Facebook that the caravan disappeared from a farm on Ballaleigh Road in the last 48 hours. He was due to go away in it in three weeks and asks anyone with information to contact him or the police.

Two race fans were found guilty of attempting to bring drugs into the Isle of Man hidden in a campervan's compost toilet. The court fined them a total of £1,300.

Despite a rainy week affecting the TT races, campers on the Isle of Man remain in high spirits. Many visitors have been staying at campsites that have been wetter than usual in early June. Racing is expected to resume on June 5. Ballaugh Campsite is equipped with TVs, a lounge area, and a nearby pub for those waiting in the rain.

Glenlough Campsite in Union Mills has submitted a planning application for five motorhome hardstandings. The new pitches will be located within areas already used by motorhomes and will not involve site expansion. The proposal also includes new internal access tracks and clearance of low scrub. The applicant describes it as a 'sensible and proportionate enhancement' of an existing tourism facility.

A former hotel-owning couple from the Isle of Man has been traveling in a motorhome since 2016. Over ten years, they have covered approximately 107,000 miles across Europe and North Africa, spending around £7 per day on campsites in some countries. They fund their travels through rental income and investments.
