How to read the plate
A Danish plate has two letters and five digits grouped 2 + 3 (EW 40 672). The white plate measures 504 × 120 mm and has a red border, with the blue EU band and DK on the left. There is no region in the number: series are issued in sequence, with no geography.
Region codes
Plates in this country do not show the region — you cannot tell it from the plate.
History
Two-letter series were introduced in 1966 and white plates in 1976. Until 1958–1966 a single letter stood for the town or amt of first registration; such plates are now issued only on request as historic (black) plates for vintage cars.
