A forest fire on the Atlantic coast near Bordeaux has forced the evacuation of thousands of tourists. The fire, which broke out in the morning in the commune of Saumos, has spread over 800 hectares. The prefect of the Gironde department ordered the evacuation of about 700 residents from two districts of Le Porge and the 'La Grigne' campsite with 3,500 holidaymakers, who were directed to the nearby resort of Lacanau. A beach in Le Porge with around 600 vehicles was also evacuated. The fire is being fought by 500 firefighters, four water-bomber aircraft and 150 vehicles; no injuries have been reported.
On the Grossglockner High Alpine Road in Fusch (Pinzgau) on the afternoon of July 22, a motorcyclist collided head-on with an oncoming camper for reasons still unknown. An RV exploded and caught fire Wednesday morning on US-62 east of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The blaze spread to an unoccupied adjacent RV. Two victims were taken to hospital by private vehicle before emergency crews arrived. ATF, Tahlequah Fire and Cherokee County Sheriff are investigating.
A 14-hour police standoff in Lumberton, New Jersey, ended with the arrest of Blake Reed, a Florida sex offender living in an RV. Reed brandished a flamethrower after a verbal dispute with another driver in the Walmart parking lot on Route 38. Police found Reed hiding in the RV's engine compartment; he also dropped a knife through the rear floodboard. Reed was taken into custody around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a campervan reportedly collided with a horse and left the scene on the Isle of Wight. The incident occurred at around 11:40am at the junction of Shanklin Road and Redhill Lane between Godshill and Whiteley Bank. The off-white campervan is said to have clipped the horse, sounded its horn, and sped off. Neither the horse nor the rider was injured.
A travel trailer was destroyed Sunday afternoon when it struck farm machinery on Round Lake Road near Bucholtz Road in Laurentian Valley, Ontario. The SUV towing the trailer and the tractor with equipment collided around 2:15 p.m., causing the trailer to disintegrate. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters in Orange County, New York, extinguished a late-night camper fire that threatened a house and equipment. The blaze on Main Street was reported just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
