Mammoth Overland unveils XLE caravan with bulletproof glass and smoke launcher

US-based Mammoth Overland, part of Vashon Aircraft, has launched the XLE (Xtinction Level Escape) caravan designed for long-term off-grid survival. It features a pressurized cabin with dual medical HEPA filters, 25mm bulletproof glass, a vault-like rear door, and 360-degree night vision cameras. Standard equipment includes a 1200 Ah battery, 400W solar panels, water filtration, air conditioning, Starlink, HAM radio, weather station, and Geiger counter. The base price in the US is $123,994.

Gouverneur officials seek ways to address dilapidated camper issue

Village officials in Gouverneur, New York, are exploring the creation or amendment of a local law to take action against owners of blighted campers. The initiative, led by the new code enforcement officer, aims to address complaints about rust, rodent infestations, and other deterioration. Mayor Ron McDougall expects the new law to be in place within a few months to improve the village's aesthetics.

Audi reveals new A6 allroad — lifted wagon with first-ever plug-in hybrid

Audi has unveiled the new A6 allroad, a rugged, lifted version of the A6 Avant. The body is 111 mm wider, ground clearance is increased by 34 mm, and adaptive air suspension can raise it another 15 mm in off-road modes. For the first time, a plug-in hybrid powertrain is available: a 2.0L turbo and electric motor produce 367 hp, with up to 95 km of electric range (WLTP). A 3.0L V6 diesel with 299 hp and mild-hybrid tech remains an option.

Beyond Wonderland Midwest 2027 expands to three days, moves to Speedway in Joliet

The Beyond Wonderland Midwest festival, previously held in Chicago, will take place at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, from June 11 to 13, 2027. For the first time, the event will offer onsite camping, including RV and car camping. Organizer Insomniac previously hosted EDC Chicago at the same venue in 2013, but that event was discontinued due to noise complaints. Tickets go on sale June 19, with three-day general admission starting at $149.

Iowa Establishes Office of Outdoor Recreation

Iowa has become the 25th U.S. state to create a dedicated Office of Outdoor Recreation (OREC). Governor Kim Reynolds signed the executive order on June 8 at Lake Ahquabi State Park.
