Hardwick Parks, an 180-acre holiday park in Oxfordshire, has closed its lake after discovering blue-green algae that can be harmful to humans and fatal to dogs. The Environment Agency is testing the water. The park has been advised to post warning signs and restrict access.
The «Camping’Pinte» gastronomy project at the Große Heide campsite in Olfen will cease operations in early August 2026. Operator Carsten Heidemann announced the closure on July 23, citing noise complaints and criticism of the concept. The establishment opened in April 2026 and was intended to operate for the full season.

At their July 15 meeting, the Marthasville Board of Aldermen voted not to revisit a proposal for an RV park at Wessel Park. Mayor David Lange said Missouri DNR officials still support the project, but bids received in June ranged from $1.29 million to $1.82 million, far exceeding the original budget. Alderman Leo Meyer, who moved to halt preliminary work last month, maintained his opposition. The city received a $375,000 LWCF matching grant in August 2025, but the plan was scaled down from 21 RV sites to three. Mayor Lange argued that abandoning the project forfeits the grant, but aldermen Meyer and Chris DeVore were not persuaded.
The Uzurat campsite in Limoges, France, has been closed since 2016, yet tourists continue to call asking about reservations. The city recommends alternative campsites, such as the municipal campsite of Limoges.
Prerow is the only location on the German Baltic coast where camping in the dunes is permitted. After a two-year dispute over who would operate the iconic campsite, authorities have decided to reduce its size. Torsten Spengler, who tows caravans with his tractor, continues to move guests out of the dunes, but the campsite's future remains uncertain.
The Orangeland RV Park in Orange, California, is set to close after the property is sold for condominium development. Some residents have lived there for decades and will lose both their homes and jobs. Management is assisting with relocation, but many cannot find comparable spaces within 100 miles.
On Wednesday, building authority staff and police cleared the closed campsite at Schachtsee in Wolmirsleben (Salzlandkreis). The action was based on violations of building, fire safety and environmental regulations, confirmed by courts. Owner Joachim Nöske accuses authorities of acting brutally, while the district administration cites permanent legal violations. Swimming in the lake is only allowed if the bathing area is clearly separated from the closed campsite; otherwise, fines may be imposed.

The People's Party (PP) and independent councillor Daniel Chapela denounce the neglect of the municipal motorhome parking in Achadiza (Beluso parish), opened in 2023 with €160,000. The site is overgrown, trees untrimmed, and Chapela alleges drug dealing and use on the premises.
Medford Water is evaluating the potential decommissioning of its bulk water station on North Columbus Avenue in Medford. If closed, residents and businesses would need to travel 15–20 minutes to White City for potable water, increasing costs and fuel consumption. A final decision is expected in several months.
Long-term campers at the 'La Nouvelle Plage' campsite in Estavayer-le-Lac (Fribourg canton) have filed an appeal with the cantonal court against the removal of their seasonal pitches. Operator TCS, which bought the campsite in 2024, plans to reduce the number of seasonal pitches from 108 to 20 and build luxury chalets for tourists (glamping). The campers argue that the new zoning plan was approved without a required detailed development plan. The court has suspended the contested points pending a decision.
Plans for a proposed recreational vehicle park in Waldoboro, Maine, have been scrapped. Cheryl Moir, owner of Country Critters Campground in Tennessee, intended to buy a plot of land near Route 1 and Main Street for an RV park but withdrew the plan after backlash from locals. Moir chose the town of just over 5,000 residents because she had stayed there as a traveling nurse and loved the community. After the Portland visitor center confirmed a need for an RV park in Waldoboro, she looked into the property at 220 Main Street.
The city of Winterthur is extending the lease for the Schützenweiher campsite after voters rejected the TCS replacement project in Rosenberg. The reprieve is temporary: over 60 permanent campers can stay longer, but the site's long-term future remains uncertain.
In Arborea, Sardinia, the camper parking area along the west coast road (Strada 26 Ovest) is abandoned and in a state of decay. Opposition councillor Valeria Manca filed a query to Mayor Manuela Pintus and the municipal council, highlighting non-functional essential services and the area's general unusability. Manca demands explanations for the technical and administrative causes, verification of the lease with Controllo Domotica Srl, and urgent restoration and cleanup. Answers are expected at the council meeting at 19:30.
Owners of Lancelin North End Caravan Park in the town of Lancelin, Western Australia, face losing their business due to rapid coastal erosion. Over three years, the sea has washed away more than 30 metres of sand, reaching a crisis point. Locals blame dune mining for accelerating the erosion, which has been ongoing for decades. The Shire of Gingin has requested state government funding for a long-term solution.
The municipality of Halden, Norway, has decided to charge for motorhome parking at the popular free site Tyska. Previously, tourists flocked there due to no fees, but authorities now aim to limit the influx and cover maintenance costs. The measure takes effect shortly.
A camper area in Civitanova, opened three years ago, remains empty and neglected. The 130,000-euro investment failed due to its poor location, several kilometers from the beach and city center, near a highway and commercial zone. Tourists choose other sites closer to the sea. Additionally, the completion of a bike path and a bridge over the Chienti River is delayed.
Incheon's Gyeyang District is struggling to reopen the Duri Camping Site in Gyulhyeon-dong and build a water park there. The project is stalled because two procedures block each other: obtaining a river occupancy permit from the Han River Basin Environmental Office requires budget, while securing a special grant from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety requires the permit. As a result, the local council cut the entire 528 million won budget in the first supplementary budget, and the permit review has been suspended. District officials say if the water park cannot be built, the entire reopening plan must be reconsidered. The original target of reopening by June 2027 is now unlikely, and even a post-2028 opening depends on budget availability.
The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) of Hong Kong, together with police, conducted a two-day joint operation to clear the Tai Tan and Wan Tsai South campsites in Sai Kung. Authorities ordered long-term occupants to leave and removed all unclaimed tents and belongings. Both campsites are temporarily closed for site maintenance. Earlier, the Wong Shek campsite was closed for the same reason, bringing the total to three popular campsites in Sai Kung suspended in two months.
The tenant family can continue operating the campsite for another six months. This was the only news from three political initiatives regarding the campsite at Schützenweiher. The city council extended the lease until March 2027, but a definitive solution for the site is not yet available.
