Minimum purchase price set for Hahn campsite and natural swimming pool

The municipality of Rastede has set a minimum purchase price of €340,000 for the approximately six-hectare site comprising the natural swimming pool and campsite in Hahn-Lehmden. A sale or heritable building right is preferred over a simple lease. The investor selection process will be three-stage, with particular focus on economic viability and preservation of the pool. Politicians criticized the current state of the site as a 'huge garbage dump' and called for an extension of the application deadline by at least one month.

Major redesign proposed for holiday park on Sunshine Coast

A revised redevelopment plan for the former Golden Beach Holiday Park, closed in February 2026, has been submitted to Sunshine Coast Council. The proposal replaces an earlier single-tower concept with four residential buildings up to 18 meters (six stories) containing 220 two- and three-bedroom apartments. The plan would remove 55 campsites, which the applicant argues represents 2.7% of coastal tourist park supply in the region, with negligible impact. The project includes 20% of apartments (about 36) at below-market rent for 10 years and 25% (about 55) at 25% below market rent for 25 years. Public submissions close on June 9.

Winterthur to vote on campsite renovation

Winterthur residents will vote on June 14, 2026, on whether to renovate the Schützenweiher campsite for CHF 7 million. Long-term campers, some living there for decades, oppose the plan, calling it a 'luxury campsite,' and have initiated a referendum. The city council argues the renovation is necessary due to outdated infrastructure and plans to lease the site to TCS for tourism.

In this seaside town, motorhomes must find new places to park

Since May 23, 2024, the motorhome parking area at Wilson parking lot in La Bernerie-en-Retz (France) has been closed. The 35-space lot will be replaced by a health center. Authorities have set up a temporary 35–40 space lot near the sports complex (no water, electricity, or dump station) and are negotiating a permanent site on Rue René Guy Cadou. Agreements with three campsites have been made, and overnight parking bans aim to prevent unauthorized camping.

The operator, Smile Cube based in Yonago, filed for bankruptcy in early May due to mounting debts from its wedding business and declining campsite visitors. Local authorities are seeking a new operator but have not set a reopening date.

Campers leave Faro campsite 'peacefully' after long dispute with municipality

Faro municipality officially took over the city's campsite on Monday (November 25), the same day most campers began leaving the site they had called home for years. Their departure was 'peaceful' although a considerable amount of trash was left behind, which municipal services have started removing. Some campers were given extra days to remove all their belongings so the municipality can finally 'open the campsite for everyone'. Mayor Rogério Bacalhau refused to describe the end of the dispute as a 'won battle', stating the goal was to create a project for the area, not to fight. The renovation, representing an investment of €450,000, will involve cleaning and reorganizing the campsite, renovating electrical and water networks, and creating green areas. The park will have 200 tent pitches, including 84 for large tents, and 24 pitches for motorhomes, with plans to open to the public by the end of 2020.

Court gives green light to Faro campsite renovations

The Tax and Administrative Court of Loulé rejected an injunction filed by a group of about 100 campers seeking to prevent eviction from the Faro campsite. The decision, announced by Faro City Council on Monday (11 November), allows the planned renovation of the campsite's infrastructure to proceed. The project represents an investment of €450,000. Campers must vacate the site by 25 November; the municipality stated it will assist with relocation, including social services for two individuals reportedly lacking financial means for alternative housing.
