German manufacturer Knaus Tabbert has introduced the compact Weinsberg CaraTour 600 ME camper van based on the Fiat Ducato 8. The vehicle, measuring 599 cm long and 205 cm wide, offers a pop-up roof, shower and toilet, two beds in the rear, a large rear garage, bicycle transport and a kitchen unit with a relatively generous work surface. The test vehicle price is 72,348 euros. Testing revealed good handling and stability on the road, but noted the absence of a reversing camera as standard, limited space at the dinette and noise from electronics under the bed during charging.

IMTEST conducted a multi-day test of five camper vans measuring between 5.40 and 6 metres at a campsite in northern Germany. German publication Promobil has published an overview of five narrow semi-integrated motorhomes (TI vans) for couples. The Giottiline CX 64 and CX 69, Dethleffs Just Van T5, Weinsberg Pepper 580 MEG, Etrusco V 6.8 SCF and Knaus Van TI Plus measure between 2.14 and 2.20 m in width, 6.38 to 7.47 m in length, and have a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 t. Prices: Giottiline from 58,700 euros, Dethleffs 64,999 euros, Weinsberg from 66,990 euros, Etrusco from 59,499 euros, Knaus from 89,900 euros. They are based on Fiat Ducato, Ford Transit or VW Crafter. The Knaus Van TI Plus gets a new interior and swivel bathroom for the 2027 season.

The author, who has owned motorhomes nearly seven metres long, reviewed the Weinsberg CaraBus 600 DQ Edition FIRE camper, which measures 5.99 metres. The model is built on a 3.5-tonne Fiat Ducato with a 2.2-litre 140 hp diesel engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. Dimensions are 2.05 metres wide and 2.82 metres high. Inside, there is a rear transverse bed (194 x 152/140 cm) and a front elevating bed (176 x 130 cm), a bathroom with a rotating Thetford cassette toilet, washbasin and shower, and a kitchen with two burners, a sink and a 95-litre compressor fridge with a 12.8-litre freezer. Fresh water tank capacity is 102 litres, grey water 90 litres. The manufacturer homologates up to five sleeping places, but for a family of four the two main beds are the logical choice. There are four homologated travel seats and ISOFIX for two child seats. The running order mass is 2,880 kg, maximum authorised weight 3,500 kg, and standard payload up to 115 kg.

The range gains a 580 MEG version measuring 6.38 m; the 600 MF and 600 MEG are 6.75 m long. It offers two longitudinal single beds over two metres long that convert into a King Size sleeping area, a 153-litre compressor fridge (83 litres in the 580 MEG), an extendable kitchen worktop, a swivelling washbasin that turns the washroom into a shower, and a standard Truma Combi 6 heater. Grey water capacity is 95 litres, fresh water ranges from 90 to 110 litres depending on version. Price is around 70,000 euros.
