Authorities in Wonju, Gangwon Province, have announced the creation of two dedicated parking lots for caravans and campers. A new 80-space lot will be built in Musil-dong (near Wonju Station), while an existing parking lot in Munmak-eup will be upgraded to 40 spaces.
The initiative aims to solve the problem of long-term parking of such vehicles in public and roadside spaces, which had caused inconvenience for residents and marred the cityscape. Both lots will be equipped with barriers, CCTV cameras, and fences. Height restrictors will be installed at entrances to regular public parking lots to redirect caravan owners to the new facilities. Work is expected to be completed by May 2026.
