Since February, six schools in Normandy have opened their yards to camper vans on weekends, public holidays, and school vacations. The cost is 12 euros per night, with no water or electricity hookups. Half of the revenue goes to the school, which could earn between 2,000 and 10,000 euros per year.
The initiative was launched by school principal Florian Binet, who started the project in Brittany in 2022. The goal is to attract 600 schools within five years. In Lisieux (Normandy), the schoolyard has become available for motorhomes as part of this partnership.
