Campervan owner shares experience of UK road trip

Swift Group has unveiled the Swift Monza campervan, built on the Ford Transit van. The model holds an official Ford license. Its compact dimensions allow it to be driven without a special license category, while still accommodating a family.

A group of people who illegally parked their caravans on playing fields at Dovecot Park in Edinburgh have been served a Notice to Quit, requiring them to leave by 5pm on June 28. The local football club Currie Star FC, which maintains the pitches, raised concerns that the encampment could prevent reseeding and treatment of the fields ahead of the upcoming season.

Fenland neighbourhood officers recovered a stolen motorhome and a road roller this week. The motorhome, stolen from Lincolnshire, was found in Wisbech St Mary the same day. The road roller, stolen from Whittlesey, was recovered in Thorney. Officers also attended a two-vehicle crash on the A47 near Thorney.

Shelley and Martin White, owners of Tower Park Chalet Park in Seaton, East Devon, say their business could become unviable due to government leasehold reforms aimed at protecting permanent residents. The reforms introduce a ground rent cap of £250, which the Whites claim would cut their income by 50%. The park operates only 7.5 months a year, and each chalet can be used for a maximum of 28 consecutive days. The couple have discussed the issue with MP Richard Foord, who raised it in the House of Commons, noting the law unintentionally captures holiday parks.

Wychavon District Council has refused an application to increase occupancy at Avon Riverside Caravan Park on Pershore Road from nine to eleven months. Applicant Robert Gaskin argued the change was needed to remain competitive, but development management head Ciaran Power stated the proposal would materially alter the approved scheme, requiring further assessment of intensification, local amenity, highway safety, and flood risk.

Bryan and Luzaan Wright of Gosberton Risegate reported the theft of their Rapido 640 motorhome from their driveway at 5:57 a.m. on June 17, but police did not arrive until 12:30 p.m. on June 19. Thieves used an angle grinder to cut the gate lock and pushed the owners' Nissan Navara into a dyke to clear the path. Police attributed the delay to other ongoing incidents; inquiries are ongoing.
