Motorhome tourism revenue in Europe reaches €1.6 billion

The Spanish motorhome and camper van market declined after the post-pandemic boom. New vehicle registrations in 2025 totaled 6,067 units, a 6% decrease compared to 2024. Sales growth was recorded only in less populated autonomous communities, such as Castilla-La Mancha (+26.6%).

The European network of motorhome service areas, Camping-Car Park, reported record results for 2025. Sales volume increased by 31% to 35 million euros, while overnight stays rose by 15% to 4.85 million. In Portugal, the Lavos service area was the most notable, with over 85% of its overnight stays attributed to foreign visitors.

Traveling by motorhome or campervan can be cheaper than traditional holidays, but only with intensive use. Analysis shows that savings on accommodation offset high initial investment and annual costs only when traveling more than 60 days a year.
