Leading contenders include Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park in California (189 sites, 6-month booking window), Ludington State Park in Michigan (about 350 sites, 80% booked for July by January), Sebago Lake and Lily Bay State Parks in Maine (2,700 transactions in the first hour of opening in 2023), Bahia Honda State Park in Florida (80 sites, 11-month window for residents), Hither Hills State Park in New York (190 sites, 9-month window), and Hampton Beach State Park in New Hampshire (29 sites, lottery system). Some parks in Idaho and California have also adopted lotteries due to demand.
