Sinan County and the Art Island Foundation are running the pilot Sinan Island Car scheme from 31 October to 28 December. Travellers pick up a camper van near Mokpo Station, tour the islands of Sinan freely and return the vehicle to the same place. The van has a camping table and cooking equipment, so it suits families, friends and couples.
The scheme is meant to reduce the transport and accommodation difficulties of island travel and to keep visitors in Sinan longer. On weekdays users get a 10–30% discount on KTX fares. Bookings can be made online or by phone, and information is available on a consultation line on weekdays from 09:30 to 17:00.
The foundation will use satisfaction and operating data from the pilot to prepare a full programme in 2027 and improve the service. It describes the Island Car as a new way of travelling that combines transport and accommodation and aims to make Sinan an island where people want to stay one more night.
