A homeless disabled veteran, Tom, who lived on the streets for about 20 months, received an RV from the nonprofit Operation Texas Strong. He had previously left his dog, Jake, at a Fort Worth fire station with a three-page letter explaining he could no longer care for the pet. Firefighters adopted the dog, and the story drew attention to the veteran. A GoFundMe was also created to cover RV maintenance and medical expenses.
