Soaring hotel prices and a desire to avoid crowds have driven a resurgence in caravan holidays in Australia. Research by Camplify found that 51 per cent of people choosing recreational vehicle travel cite escaping everyday stress as their main motivation. Tourism Research Australia data shows 17.3 million domestic overnight caravan and camping trips in 2025, nearly one in seven such trips. Caravan hire costs around $80 to $250 per day depending on size, age and features. Camplify lists more than 21,000 RVs from private owners on its platform.
