China's Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and National Forestry and Grassland Administration issued joint guidance to optimize natural resource allocation for tourism. The document permits gas stations, service areas, and tourist stops outside urban development boundaries, and allows motorhome and road-trip campsites to be built without construction land permits if they do not harm tree growth or require paving. In key ecological zones, moderate camping, hiking, sightseeing, study tours, and forest wellness activities are allowed, with necessary boardwalks, trails, and eco-friendly toilets.
