In France, a category B license is sufficient for motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes. Towing a trailer over 750 kg or exceeding 3.5 tonnes total requires a C1 license or higher. EU Directive 2025/2205 of October 22, 2025, allows driving motorhomes up to 4.25 tonnes with a B license, but member states have four years to implement it. France still applies the 3.5-tonne limit.

German Federal Fiscal Court: Luxury motorhome sales can be tax-exempt

Germany's highest fiscal court has ruled that the short-term resale of expensive motorhomes is not necessarily subject to speculation tax. The decision stems from a case where a Saxon couple sold a motorhome for €315,000 a few months after purchase. The court classified the motorhome as an item for personal use, which is an exception to the one-year tax rule for private sales.
