Chinese car camping specialist Wild Land has unveiled the Pickupmate Trunk, an electro-actuated camper trunk that unfolds into a two-story livable shelter for pickup trucks. The unit combines functions of a rooftop tent, a pickup camping topper, and a basic truck cap. It packs to 64 cm tall and weighs 208 kg. Deployment takes seconds via a remote control or an integrated button. The upper tent features a 302 x 145 cm bed and 11 windows. The lower level offers full standing height. Onboard power includes an 86-Wh battery, LED lighting, and a 4.0 surround sound system. Optional accessories include a drop-down shower tent and a 270-degree awning. The Pickupmate Trunk was displayed at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon. It is available for preorder in Germany at €10,980 including VAT and in the US at US$9,099. The small version fits midsize trucks like the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger; a large model is planned for bigger trucks.
