Administration
Australian Off Road (AOR), a Queensland-based manufacturer of off-road caravans and campers, announced on Tuesday it has entered administration after 26 years. The company ceased operations last week. Nick Keramos and Bill Karageozis were appointed as administrators. General manager Russell Evans said the company could no longer continue operating as before.
Reasons
Cited causes include intensifying competition, product copying, rising imports from China and lower production costs elsewhere in Australia. Last year the company produced about 250 caravans; its customer base is around 4,000 in Australia and overseas. A creditors' meeting is scheduled for next week.
History
Founded by Steve Budden in Maleny, Queensland, in the late 1990s, AOR grew to national scale, employed hundreds and in 2025 received the People's Choice: Manufacturer of the Year award from the Caravan Industry Association of Australia. Earlier this year its Queensland head office suddenly closed.
