On Sunday, around 130 caravans belonging to the traveller community illegally settled on the football fields of the Dojger sports complex in Bruges (Gironde). Mayor Frédéric Giraud said this would disrupt sports activities for club members, schoolchildren, and leisure programme participants, and damage the lawns restored in summer 2025. The town hall initiated an eviction procedure through the prefect of Gironde.
Earlier, in May, in Knutange (Moselle), a group of travellers illegally occupied the football field of the Sainte-Geneviève stadium. The municipality sent a letter to the prefecture demanding measures to ensure safety and public order.
