Karen Bronga, 64, a former Anchorage Assembly member and retired teacher, died Friday in a head-on collision on the Sterling Highway. The crash occurred at about 1:36 pm near Mile 62 in the Skilak Lake area when a southbound Dodge pickup drifted into the northbound lane and struck an oncoming motor home. Bronga was declared dead at the scene; the motor home driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the pickup driver was seriously injured. The highway was closed for approximately eight hours.
