On Saturday, 4 July 2026, a parked Iveco motorhome exploded on Planknerstrasse in Schaan, Liechtenstein. Firefighters, police and an ambulance arrived around 14:45 to find the vehicle fully engulfed. The blaze was extinguished, but the motorhome was completely destroyed.
According to preliminary police findings, the explosion was caused by a technical defect in the lithium batteries installed in the living module. The blast scattered battery parts and body fragments over a wide area. The batteries had to be removed by crane and placed on a safe site for cooling. No injuries were reported.
