On May 11, 2026, around 10:45 a.m., a head-on collision occurred between a motorhome and a van on the RD6580 road in the commune of Pujaut (Gard department). According to firefighters, the impact was "very violent." Three people were injured: a 73-year-old female passenger in the motorhome and a 63-year-old van driver were trapped in their vehicles and taken to hospitals in Avignon and Nîmes in serious condition. The 72-year-old motorhome driver sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
Thirteen firefighters and five emergency vehicles were deployed. Extrication was required to free the trapped victims. Traffic was closed during the rescue operation — according to different sources, for three hours or several hours.
