The Tourism Authority of Thailand organized the Smile @ South, Malaysia-Thailand Caravan event, welcoming a caravan of over 50 cars and motorcycles from Malaysia on December 24, 2025, in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province. The aim is to restore confidence among Malaysian tourists following a major flood and promote the city's readiness to receive visitors during the New Year period. The initiative also includes plans for a large-scale New Year's countdown event, HATYAI NEW YEAR 2026, on December 30-31 to boost tourism.
