Goheung hosts summer 'Island-Camp' to promote island travel

Nine Camping Car (CEO Kang Bong-gu) will exhibit the 4-seat electric camper Wild Club EV, based on the Hyundai ST1, at the 2026 Jeonnam-Gwangju Future Industry Expo, held from September 2 to 5 at the Kim Daejung Convention Center in Gwangju. The camper features a height that allows entry into underground parking garages and a 4-seat layout with rotating front seats that convert into a lounge area. The expo is organized by the Jeonnam-Gwangju Unified Special City and includes 300 companies with 700 booths.

Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has signed an agreement with Minican Camp & Mobility to create tourism products for foreign independent travelers, combining overnight stays in campers at Pyeonghwa Nuri Campground with visits to the DMZ. The products will include packages with camper rental, two nights at the campground, and DMZ tours, as well as customizable options. In 2025, individual travelers accounted for 80.1% of foreign visitors to South Korea. The Pyeonghwa Nuri Campground, operated by Gyeonggi Tourism Organization since April 2024, attracted about 1,600 foreign tourists last year.

Gumi Nakdong Sports Park in North Gyeongsang, South Korea, has become a popular leisure destination, combining natural scenery, sports facilities, and camping areas. In 2026, the park's campsite recorded 105,080 visitors, including 67,400 for auto camping, 12,924 for caravans, 15,444 for general camping, and 9,312 for deck use. A second campsite opened in January offers 50 auto camping sites of 10×10 meters. Residents of Gumi receive a 20% discount on fees, and families with multiple children get up to 50% off on weekdays during off-peak seasons.

Gyeonggi signed an MOU with Minican Camping & Mobility to create packages combining camper rental, Pyeonghwa Nuri camping, and DMZ visits. The aim is to attract independent tourists, who make up 80.1% of foreign visitors.

The August 27 episode of MBC's 'Today N' will showcase two South Korean couples who have traveled together in camper vans for over 20 years. The couples, who met in their youth, started camping at the suggestion of one family and now go on weekend trips across the country. The show will also feature them catching fish at a festival in Sacheon.

South Korean camper and motorhome manufacturer Sopung Camper (CEO Bok Jong-hoon) will present the universal transformable space platform B5 at the 2026 Jeonnam-Gwangju Future Industry Expo, held September 2-5 at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju. The platform features patented technologies for an expandable toilet and a convertible chair-bed structure, maximizing the use of limited interior space and adaptable to various vehicle models. The company plans to gradually expand its workforce, enhance technology, and strengthen patent protection, while also developing B2B channels and social media marketing.
