Authorities in Málaga have started clearing a large caravan camp near Sacaba Beach, targeting over a hundred residents who turned to mobile homes due to unaffordable rents. Police began identifying and notifying residents, citing lack of sanitation and infrastructure. Many residents, such as construction worker Ángel González earning around €1,000 a month, say they cannot afford traditional housing. According to Idealista, average sale prices rose from €2,100 per square meter in 2021 to €3,784, while rents nearly doubled to €16.5 per square meter. Residents and activists call for negotiations, as the city has not offered alternative solutions.
