Dozens rallied in San Francisco on November 5 against a new ban on long-term RV parking that took effect earlier this month. Under the new rules, RVs without a special permit parked for more than two hours can be fined or towed. The city has issued 322 permits, but advocates for the homeless say many RV dwellers were not notified.
Authorities have begun towing RVs in the Bayview neighborhood. At least 41 vehicles without permits are at risk of being towed. The city has allocated $12.9 million for a program to relocate about 400 people from RVs into conventional housing.
