Málaga: Caravans in Sacaba face eviction, mayor seeks camping site

Málaga mayor Francisco de la Torre said on Tuesday he hopes caravans parked in the Sacaba area will leave voluntarily after signs were posted banning camping and announcing future access barriers. He cited neighbor complaints about coexistence, hygiene, and safety issues. Most motorhomes are on private land, and the city has urged owners to address the situation. The mayor also confirmed efforts to find a site for a motorhome campground and noted that some social cases require separate handling.

140 families at the Sacaba Beach caravan settlement in Málaga are awaiting eviction scheduled for July 7. Residents have been on site since early morning, hoping for dialogue and a solution.

Deputy spokesperson of the Con Málaga municipal group, Toni Morillas, attended a meeting of residents living in motorhomes in Sacaba, who face eviction. She demanded dialogue and negotiation from the city council to resolve the situation, noting that the housing emergency in Málaga is forcing more people to live in their vehicles. Rafael Sánchiz, spokesperson for 'Sacaba no se toca', stated that residents are not asking for free housing but only want to stay in the city and continue contributing.
