In the Spanish region of A Mariña (Lugo), motorhome use has surged: according to traffic data, the number of motorhomes in Spain has tripled over the past decade from just over 48,000 to nearly 137,000, with a 185% increase since 2015. This strains local facilities: Viveiro, which has only 8 designated spaces, saw over 50 motorhomes parked this week. Municipalities including Ribadeo and Viveiro are drafting ordinances to restrict parking and camping, while Foz plans to introduce fees for services. Traffic regulations allow motorhomes to stop and park like any vehicle, but deploying awnings or tables constitutes camping and may be prohibited.
