Police in the Austrian state of Carinthia have arrested two Bulgarian nationals on suspicion of fraud involving campervan rentals. According to investigators, the men rented several campers, then reported them stolen abroad. In reality, the vehicles were driven to Sofia, where they were used or sold. The damage is estimated at a six-figure euro sum. European arrest warrants have been issued.
Earlier, on the night of February 19, a motorhome was stolen in Munich. Polish police stopped it in the town of Lubawka using a spike strip. The driver, a 17-year-old suspect, had ignored border controls. The vehicle's value is in the mid-five-figure range. Munich police are investigating a series of motorhome thefts possibly linked to organized crime.
