A fire involving an RV and a trailer on eastbound Interstate 84 near milepost 311 was extinguished by Baker City Fire Department and neighboring agencies on Tuesday afternoon. Eastbound lanes were temporarily closed; after the flames were knocked down, the Oregon Department of Transportation reopened one lane. The owners were alerted by occupants of a passing vehicle. The trailer was a total loss and the RV sustained significant damage; no injuries were reported. The fire originated in the front portion of the trailer, and the cause is under investigation.
