Texas: arrest after fatal fire
32-year-old Manuel Sanchez was arrested on murder and arson charges after an RV fire on April 30 in Medina County, Texas. 70-year-old Jose Romeo Ybarra, who was inside, died. Sanchez was initially detained at the scene, later charged; bond for each charge is set at $500,000.
Colorado: all evacuated
On May 5 around 5:00 p.m., an RV caught fire in the 400 block of Smallwood Drive in Clifton, Colorado. All occupants evacuated, and the fire was extinguished by 5:26 p.m. The cause is under investigation, and the fate of animals on the property is being determined.
North Carolina: refrigerator blamed
On Monday, May 4, in Watauga County, North Carolina, an RV was heavily damaged by fire. Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to a nearby structure 15 feet away. A refrigerator malfunction was identified as the cause. No one was inside the RV or the structure at the time.
