RVTAA, NRVIA to Host Expo in November

A motorhome caught fire Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 95 north of Moscow, Idaho. Moscow Rural Volunteer Firefighters responded around 4:30 p.m. The motorhome was northbound on Steakhouse Hill when it ignited, then rolled into a field, starting a small grass and brush fire. Idaho Department of Lands firefighters assisted. The Latah County Sheriff's Office and Idaho State Police also responded. The highway was closed and traffic detoured. No one was hurt.

Oakland city workers began towing vehicles and requiring owners to relocate on San Leandro Street south of the Oakland Coliseum in late August, according to council member Ken Houston. The action follows an April city council vote that removed inhabited vehicles from the official definition of a homeless encampment, effective in July, allowing RVs and cars with people living in them to be treated as abandoned and towed with less or no notice. Of Oakland's nearly 3,660 homeless people counted on a single night in 2024, about 2,120 (58%) lived in vehicles. The city has 1,260 shelter units for 4,410 homeless residents. In March, Oakland closed a safe RV parking site for 31 vehicles at 71st Avenue and San Leandro Street due to budget shortfalls.

Go RVing held its Ultimate RV Tailgate on Sept. 6 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., ahead of the Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame game. The seven-hour activation drew 8,000 booth visitors, with more than 1,000 touring the RV. The campaign features immersive pop-ups at major college football games and a sweepstakes offering $10,000 toward an RV.

A camper caught fire in Jefferson Township, Butler County, at about 11 p.m. Dispatchers said the fire was caused by fireworks. Crews knocked down the flames within 15 minutes. No injuries were reported, and state police are investigating.

Entegra Coach has unveiled the Embark, a Class A motorhome featuring an electric drivetrain and a gasoline-powered range extender. Built on an electric medium-duty chassis from Harbinger Motors, it has a 140-kWh battery and can travel up to 105 miles on battery power alone; with the range extender, total real-world range reaches 450 miles. The 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging, as well as charging at home or at RV campsites. Production is set to begin in 2026, with consumer rentals through THL starting the same year to gather feedback.

Pinto Lake City Park, a 78-acre park in Santa Cruz County, California, provides 28 RV sites with water, sewer, and electric hookups at around $50 per night. The park is about an hour's drive south of San Jose and 40 minutes north of Monterey. Fishing is available from two earthen piers, and rowboats and paddleboats can be rented. Bringing personal boats requires an inspection for zebra and quagga mussels, available only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
