The Mecklenburg County (Va.) Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Monday night to deny a special exception permit for a two-site RV campground on Greenwood Road near Boydton. The motion to deny came from Supervisor David Brankley, the board’s representative on the county planning commission, who said the project met zoning conditions but that he was obliged to follow constituents after neighbors spoke against it. Applicant Carolyn Wilbourne Evans sought the permit for a 10-acre tract adjoining Greenwood Point, her 23-lot subdivision near Boydton, where homes are typically valued above $500,000 and unimproved lakefront lots sell for $100,000 to $220,000.
