More municipalities and state governments in the U.S. are enacting bans on sleeping in vehicles and vehicle habitation. Colorado Springs, Colorado, expanded its camping ban to include car camping, with penalties including a fine, up to 10 days in jail, and vehicle impoundment. Similar restrictions exist in states such as Florida, California, and Tennessee, where sleeping in a vehicle for more than three hours can result in up to six years in prison.
