Jeonnam-Gwangju Camping & Tourism Expo

The Urban Construction Committee of the Seongnam City Council rejected the city's proposed zoning change for the auto camping site in Yuldong Park, citing an ongoing investigation into possible tourism law violations.

On October 8 around 11:13 a.m., a fire broke out at a camper manufacturing plant in Paltan-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. All five people evacuated, no injuries reported.

A camper driven by a woman in her 50s collided with an 8.5-ton truck and overturned. No serious injuries; traffic was restricted.

A public parking lot for recreational vehicles with 43 spaces across 3,312 square meters has opened on unused land beneath Hyeondong Bridge in Changwon's Masanhappo District. Use is free through the end of this year and will become paid starting in January, with monthly fees of 70,000 won for large vehicles longer than six meters and 60,000 won for smaller vehicles of six meters or less. Applications will be accepted from the 13th on a first-come, first-served basis through the Ilsang Plus integrated reservation service on the city's website; eligibility is limited to owners of camping vehicles registered at an address in Changwon as of the application date. This is the third such lot in the city, following 47 spaces in Uichang District and 41 in Jinhae District.

The Seongnam Civil Society Coalition and 351 residents filed a public audit request with the Board of Audit and Inspection over the auto camping site in Yuldong Park. The petition cites discrepancies between the park development plan and actual facilities, operation of an unregistered campsite, and the proposed rezoning of 23,615 square meters from conservation green zone to natural green zone. The Seongnam City Council has received a proposal to amend the city management plan, including the rezoning, with a hearing scheduled before the urban construction committee on October 7. The coalition is calling on the council to postpone the hearing and the city to halt the rezoning process until the audit results are released.

Since August 28, revised regulations allow fines and towing for vehicles continuously parked for over a month in free public parking lots in South Korea. However, no fines or towing have been recorded at the coastal public parking lot along Donghaean-ro near Jeongja Mongdol Beach in Ulsan's Dong-gu district. The difficulty lies in proving continuous parking, as camper and caravan owners move out and return. Authorities are currently issuing notices and requesting voluntary relocation.
