A30 Westbound Lanes Reopen After Lorry and Caravan Collision Near Sourton Cross

A collision between a lorry and a car towing a caravan on the A30 Okehampton Bypass caused lane closures on the westbound carriageway near Sourton Cross. Police responded at around 11:05 am on July 24. The caravan sustained substantial damage, but no injuries were reported. Both lanes have reopened, though residual congestion and delays are expected.

1966 motorhome with Mini garage and recording studio

In 1966, British coachbuilder Harold Radford Coachbuilders built the Transcontinental Carabus Mk2 motorhome for steel magnate Philip Lee, based on an AEC Reliance bus. The 11-metre vehicle featured a hydraulic lift for a Mini Cooper S, a recording studio, two toilets, a roof-access lift, and a kitchen with a dishwasher. The project cost £25,000 (over €700,000 in today's money). DVLA records show the motorhome was scrapped decades ago; the Mini's last registration was in 1985.

Zara launches rooftop tent for cars

Spanish retailer Zara has started selling a rooftop tent for cars through Zara Home in the UK. The tent features an aluminium shell, built-in mattress and telescopic ladder, priced at £3,300. Interior dimensions are 260×144 cm with a maximum height of 125 cm, sleeping two people. Maximum load is 150 kg, and the vehicle must have a dynamic roof load capacity of 70–100 kg. No waterproof rating, wind resistance or warranty details are provided.

Glastonbury van parking hotspots face new restrictions

Somerset Council is consulting on new parking and waiting restrictions for seven roads in Glastonbury, several of which are known as regular stopping points for vans and caravans. The proposed order covers stopping, waiting, loading, unloading and on-street parking. The council states the changes aim to avoid danger to people or traffic and preserve or improve local amenities. Objections must be submitted in writing by 16 July 2026.
