In Lippstadt, Germany, police stopped a motorhome that had no windshield and no side windows. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and said he was too hot. The vehicle was once a luxury model built by the now-defunct German manufacturer Bawemo, known for high-end motorhomes on Mercedes and Iveco chassis. Well-preserved Bawemo motorhomes are now collector's items, fetching up to half a million Swedish kronor.
Police in the Soest district stopped a 1970s–80s Bawemo camper near Lippstadt that had all its windows removed. The driver said he dismantled them to combat heat in the cabin and was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle was deemed technically unsafe. Further driving was banned and a substantial fine issued. The stop was part of a larger traffic operation aimed at reducing serious accidents.
Around 10,000 campers are heading to the Parookaville festival in Weeze. Organizers advised turning off navigation devices to avoid traffic jams and set up separate routes to ease congestion. Police report calm traffic so far, and the two-day camper arrival strategy helps reduce road pressure.
German premium motorhome brand Wingsburg has introduced the 'Cara Compact Suite MB640 MEG' model, built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter commercial van. The price is around 20 million yen.
