Donegal County Council is again being urged to address illegal campervan parking at the pier in Donegal Town. Over the Bank Holiday weekend, more than 20 campervans were reportedly parked overnight, with one completely blocking a footpath. Glenties councillor Michael McClafferty has called for stricter measures to prevent camper vans from parking on piers and beaches. At a recent municipal district meeting, he highlighted that camper vans are blocking car parks, affecting both locals and tourists, citing an incident where a family with a disabled child could not exit their vehicle. He also raised concerns about camper vans obstructing piers, causing issues for fishermen. McClafferty noted that dedicated camper van facilities exist and that parking at Kilahooey Beach is inappropriate.

Skibbereen woman Wendy Murphy has launched a GoFundMe campaign to repair or replace her damaged caravan. The target is €2,800, with 15 donations totaling €540 so far.
