After almost 70 years, Bürstner has stopped making caravans — and nobody was particularly surprised once sales had fallen by a third. Sweden registered 62% more motorhomes and is preparing to let them drive faster. Chet Hanks moved into a retirees' trailer park in Nashville — for the country music career, not the savings. Plus a Korean workation site for 100 motorhomes, an unmanned trailer hotel on Hokkaido, and a gyrocopter pilot who landed on a highway and clipped an oncoming motorhome — all in this issue.

Anger at campervans blocking footpaths in Donegal Town

Donegal County Council is again being urged to address illegal campervan parking at the pier in Donegal Town. Over the Bank Holiday weekend, more than 20 campervans were reportedly parked overnight, with one completely blocking a footpath. Locals also claim users are discarding waste in litter bins and on the ground in the car park. In 2022, then Councillor Tom Conaghan called for action against such parking.

McClafferty seeks measures to restrict camper van parking on piers and beaches

Glenties councillor Michael McClafferty has called for stricter measures to prevent camper vans from parking on piers and beaches. At a recent municipal district meeting, he highlighted that camper vans are blocking car parks, affecting both locals and tourists, citing an incident where a family with a disabled child could not exit their vehicle. He also raised concerns about camper vans obstructing piers, causing issues for fishermen. McClafferty noted that dedicated camper van facilities exist and that parking at Kilahooey Beach is inappropriate.

Bürstner has halted caravan production as demand fell 13%. Poland is proposing to scrap road tolls for campervans, while Liguria counts the cost of 8,000 motorhomes descending on the region. Tom Hanks' son has swapped Hollywood for a trailer in pursuit of a music career, and a French couple has driven 100,000 km from the North Cape to Senegal — and that's not even the whole story. All this in this issue.
