RV PRO has announced its editors' picks for the Best New Models of 2027, comprising 25 models. The selection includes brand-new models, refreshed existing products, and those with innovative updates that caught the attention of RV PRO editors at Open House. The winners will be highlighted in the December 2026 issue. Among the recognized models are Forest River East to West Bravado 35KB, Keystone Sprinter 37FLWC, Tiffin Motorhomes GH2 24FV, Airstream World Traveler, Grand Design Solitude 394RO, Newmar Dutch Star 35th Anniversary, and others.

Jim Dennedy uses a Newmar Canyon Star motorhome over 11 metres long to transport his daughter Juliette and her teammates to cyclocross races across the US. The interior is converted into a team truck with a rack for eight bikes, sleeping quarters for three riders, a kitchen, shower and workstations. Dennedy is fully self-sufficient with solar panels and Starlink internet. He makes about six out-of-state trips per year, sometimes driving 8–12 hours. He says the fuel costs are well worth it because the girls have become close friends.

At the RV Dealer Open House in Elkhart, manufacturers showcased new products and solutions. Patrick Industries demonstrated direct printing on interior panels, Addex Outdoors a patented Jeep towable.

Newmar has announced that its 35th Anniversary Edition Dutch Star is now available for retail order through authorized Newmar dealers across North America. The limited-edition package adds exclusive exterior graphics and badging, a choice of two premium leather furniture packages (Founders Oak and Heritage Grey), and driver and passenger seats with embroidered 35th Anniversary insignia. Available on the 2027 Dutch Star lineup, the anniversary edition also includes new floorplan options, standard Starlink internet, standard dual Girard Nova patio awnings, a standard washer and dryer on select floorplans, and the Comfort Drive steering system. Dutch Star has been America's best-selling Class A diesel motor coach since 2021.

Four companies control the majority of RV brands in the North American market: REV Group, Forest River, Winnebago, and Thor Industries. REV Group owns Holiday Rambler, Fleetwood, American Coach, and Monaco Coach; Forest River, owned by Warren Buffett, includes Coachmen, Berkshire Luxury Coach, Dynamax, and East To West; Winnebago owns Grand Design and Newmar; Thor Industries owns Airstream, Dutchmen, Jayco, Tiffin, and CrossRoads. Consolidation may lower costs and simplify the supply chain, but can also lead to reduced quality control and cookie-cutter designs.

Winnebago Industries will bring over 150 RVs from Winnebago, Grand Design RV and Newmar to the 57th annual America's Largest RV Show, held Sept. 16-20 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Debuts include the Winnebago ARKA with a 48-volt energy architecture and up to 16.8 kWh of Lithionics lithium battery capacity for up to 14 days of off-grid travel, Grand Design's first gas-powered motorhome Lineage Series E 30DC on a Ford chassis, and its most affordable travel trailer Transcend Lite 121RBL. Newmar will display 18 luxury motorhomes, including the refreshed Essex and New Aire. Select models will be available for on-site test drives.

Newmar will showcase its 2027 model year lineup at the 57th Annual America's Largest RV Show, held Sept. 16-20 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The display at Booth D1 will feature the updated Essex and New Aire, along with a full range of Class A diesel, Super C and Compact C motorhomes. Attendees can also participate in test drives of select models, including the Dutch Star, Ventana, Northern Star and Bay Star.

Momentum Upfitters, a Salt Lake City-based company formerly known as Utah Off Grid Solar, designs and installs solar and battery systems for RVs and trailers. Complete RV Power packages start at $6,999, with the top-tier Momentum RV Apex priced at $24,999. The company works on all makes and models, including Alliance RV, Airstream, and Newmar, and has expanded to Fort Collins, Colorado. A 10% discount on complete packages is available until Sept. 15 with a deposit and mention of the article.

Newmar has introduced the 2026 Grand Star 3948, a Super C motorhome built on a Freightliner S2RV chassis. It is powered by a 6.7L Cummins diesel engine (360 hp, 800 lb-ft torque) and has a towing capacity of 12,000 lbs. Features include pneumatic suspension seats, touchscreen controls, a swiveling outdoor Smart TV with soundbar, a dinette that converts into an extra bed, and large side windows.

Newmar is expanding its Super C lineup with models that rival Class A luxury, including the 2026 Summit Aire with 30,000-pound towing capacity and the shortest floorplan on a Freightliner S2 chassis. All-electric energy packages with Lithionics 960 Ah batteries and solar panels are available. Customization includes one-of-one Artisan Series paint graphics.

Luxury RV manufacturer Newmar recognized its top-performing dealers for achievements in 2025. The awards ceremony was held on February 25 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as part of the annual dealer meeting. The company introduced two new award categories this year.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released its weekly list of vehicular recalls. It includes Gulf Stream Coach travel trailers due to reversed wiring in taillights, Forest River and Winnebago motorhomes with faulty water tank heating pads, and Forest River and Keystone travel trailers at risk of ramp door detachment.

Motorhome manufacturer Newmar will showcase new models at the Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa from January 13-18, 2026. The display will feature the company's first compact Class C motorhome, the Freedom Aire 2515, and a new cab-over bunk with integrated skylight option, which will be available across the entire Super C lineup.

The 2025 Newmar Dutch Star 4369, a 44-foot luxury motorhome, is being offered for $569,995 at Campers Inn RV of Louisville. It features a residential-style kitchen, heated floors, a king bed, a full-size washer/dryer, and an emergency exit hatch. The vehicle will be displayed at the Louisville Boat, RV & Sportshow from January 28 to February 1, where a lower price is anticipated.

In 2026, approximately 11.2 million U.S. households own an RV. In most cases, a standard driver's license is sufficient to operate a motorhome, as standard licenses allow driving vehicles under 26,000 pounds. However, rules vary by state: Wisconsin requires a commercial driver's license for vehicles over 45 feet, and California requires a non-commercial Class B license for motorhomes over 26,000 pounds or longer than 40 feet. Class A motorhomes like the Newmar Dutch Star can be over 43 feet long with a GVWR of 41,000 pounds, potentially requiring special licensing depending on the state.
